Charles Warren Damon, Jr., how the heck are you. I tried to respond but not sure it went through as we have to be "friends" I am not up on this social networking stuff....Tucson huh...The grandson of Redeye...we're getting old my friend!!! Still blasting the Beach Boys and Bob Dylan? We had some fun times over there, it is hard to believe was discharged over 30 freakin years ago!!! Living and working in New Jersey. Tired of the rat race!! My nephew went to Amberg a couple of years ago and made a CD of the town and the old barracks which are now apartments. I also have somewhere a picture of you in the German helmut. It resurfaces when i go through my junk every so often. Next time I'll find someone to scan it and send to you!!! Hammie

Hi guy. We overlapped I was there January 72 until August 74. The pizza and chicken rang a bell. The Ring Cafe was my favorite and when we went to Amberg a few years ago we had dinner at a place on Bahnhoff Strasse that had the same cook.

Charles,the pizza place was called Sandros when I was there.How about the Ring it was one street from the banhof.The big department store was calledKofhof(spelling) great wipped cream cakes in there with fruit.Remember Queer Willy's on the way to Nurmberg???

Sorry for not responding sooner. Busy time on the farm with horses and things. Not sure who ended up with the plaque. Left Amberg in July of 77, went to Ft Stewart, GA. August in south east GA sucks, hot and humid. Luckly during the summer of 78 we went to Ft Drum, NY to train NY NG tankers, much cooler. ETSed in 79 and joined an Army Reserve training division(tank basic training). Drove truck for a year delivering lumber. My room mate and I started doing carpentry work until 82.(another resession) Went back in the army as an E2(was an E7 in the reserves) and back to Germany, 1st AD as the BN XOs gunner. Was going to stay in and reup for the same unit in 85 but recruiting was calling. So I got out and went back to my old reserve unit until I retiredmin 94. Did get back to Amberg a couple times, nice being back there remembering friends and times gone by. Dave Snow, one of the recovery guys is in the group also. Sent him a picture of him when I took him to the airport. Haven't heard anything from or about Dale. Talked to Kim Czarapata a couple times years ago when I was flying through Milwaukee. Wow what at suprise, I've looked at that picture now and then and wondered how everybodies been doing.

So how are you ? Always wondered what happened to our "Shorttimers Plaque" (Eagle with spot for number of days). Sure like to hear from you.
