Thanks for answering and adding me as a friend. My days in Bamberg were as a 19 -20 year old probably the same as other there to patrol the border and have a few beers and crazy times at Graf. A growing up time in life. The 2nd ACR was just part of it but the history of our unit is something to be very proud of and i was blessed to be part of such a special organization.

      Dave,

I served with Bill Virrill in a staff position. He is on this website. Try giving him a nudge.

I guess you were part of 73 Easting?

Welcome David, I was stationed in Bamberg in 1958-60 with How. Co 2nd Bn.

      Toujours Pret David,
Welcome to the new DragoonBase, the new Base has plenty of newer features, lots of sub-groups,(ie,F-Trp,Amberg,Medics,etc.) and links for 2nd Cav News and History.
Robb Russell has posted some tips for navigating the site (ie,photos, links, ect) in the Forum.
Make sure you stop by and read the latest Tacoma Dave ‘Triva Quiz’, learn some 2nd Cav history and you can even win a kool prize.
If you need any help, you can contact Robb, or any of the 5 admins listed at the top of the page, or just yell out, another member may be able to help you.
And our only wish, ‘Keep it clean’, use our Real names/with Pictures(pix from back in the day, work best for searching for Brothers, but any picture will do).
And that you please tell all your friends about the new DragoonBase.

Thanks again for joining Dragoon Base, and for your service to our great country,
      Jesse Kelley

Tell us a little about your cav days.

While in 2nd Squadron 2nd ACR, I spent quite a bit of time down range before we went to the Gulf. Everbody in 2nd Squadron was pretty cool in those days. Hung around a little with MacNeil E-5 in my platoon. My memory is not as good as it used to be. My Troop commander was Capt. H. R. McMaster; that was one hard chargin officer. My 1sg. was Virrill; he was the toughest 1 sg. I ever had. Played football with him a few times he was a good man. I'd could go to war with both of them. My Plt. leader was Lt. Petscheke; I think that's how you spell his name. Did really know him all that well but he seemed proficient. My platoon sgt was SSG. Foster; SSG Foster was alright, he didn't take any chances when it came to his troops in combat. He was a good guy.

Tell us a little about you now.

I'm trying to hang in there. Since I left the service I've had a little trouble dealing with civilian life. I've recently completed a PTSD residential program which brought back tons of memories. Some good some bad.

    Phone number (Optional).

    719-432-8789

Name a few buddies you served with that you would like to find.

I'd like to hear from anyone who was in my unit.
