  Sigmund: Please let the rain go on through to Texas. I cannot water in Dec, Jan, or Feb because those are the months they use to calculate our sewer charges in Amarillo and they are too dumb to figure out that the extra usage goes onto the lawns and not down the drain. Therefore, I need the rain as we have had little precipitation here this winter. I am uncertain about this reunion you keep mentioning. I must have missed something, but I shan't ask you to repeat the details. I am pleased to learn that your family is enjoying life there and I hope it continues as long as you wish. I scurried around gathering firewood after our last cold spell, but I found the mother lode of fuel in my attic tonight. I am going to burn all of my receipts from 1965 through 1999 and it is some pile of paper. I am also disposing of my hoard of antique automotive parts. Men have taken away something less that a ton already. Thank you for remembering me via the license plate. Robert

  Sigmund: Thank you for keeping in touch with the likes of me. I am doing okay. My Cocker Spaniel, Sadie, passed away in December and I am working feverishly to get the end-of-year paperwork organized. Sadie took care of the financials and tax returns around here. I hope to honor her memory by not offending the IRS in April. I hope your golf game improves to your satisfaction. I have a book about my cousin John Keener Wadley. In it there is a picture of Byron Nelson as a young man. He has signed the picture in thanks to my cousin for teaching him "the finer points of golf." I neither golf, or fish, but I can spell both. You did not mention the kind of fish you caught, so I hope it was a big one. What reunion is occurring in Kentucky? Family or Army?. Do you drive or fly when you must travel that far? I can never afford to go anywhere, so I can appreciate that you get out and about as often as you like. Make it a good day.

  Sigmund: Thank you so much for your Christmas and New Year's greeting. Of course, I wish the same to you and yours. I think that the time is fast approaching that we all will need the support of one another in ways that we cannot imagine right now. However, I believe that the goodness that is America will rise up at last and conquer the slothful and put us all back on the fast track to success. I have really appreciated that you sort of became my friend through this site. Having a link to someone who has helped shoulder the load of freedom is really meaningful to me in my old age. Thank you Sigmund. I hope you all continue to enjoy the blessings that this wonderful season brings our way. Robert

  Sigmund: You have a well-rounded group of photographs. Thank you for sharing them and your memories of our service days. I will be 70 next year, but via your Bindlach information I feel like a kid again and it is as if we were back there again and just shooting the bull while our C-rations warmed up on those little pellet stoves. Did you ever have a meal in the old church there at Grafenwöhr? From time to time someone would toss a can of jam into the fire we were sitting around. Of course, it was not long before everyone had a helping of jam to go with the other unpleasantness of war games.

  Sigmund, thank goodness you are back. I appreciate the photographs that you have provided. It never occurred to me that there was such an appropriate monument to the efforts of Patton in preparing our young men to face the Germans. Even as I had passed the sign to Charaico Summit many times, I was never able to take my rig up there. Your experience has pushed me into doing further reading and examination about this training area. Thank you.
