Happy Birthday,Jeff. It was nice seeing you at the reunion.

    • Dave Gettman January 20, 2015 13:24

Yeah, but our offensive line really sucks. Pretty easy to get pressure on Wilson.

    • Dave Gettman January 20, 2015 13:22

      Amen to that!

    • Dave Gettman January 19, 2015 22:44

What unit(s) did you serve in with the 2d Cavalry?

HQ & 3d (Blue) Plt. Echo Troop 2d Squadron 2d Armored Cavalry Regiment

    Where were you stationed?

    Bamberg, FRG

What MOS or job description did you have?

19Delta. E-1 to E-3 1SG Hickey's delta element E-40. Keeping up with Top was not an easy task. We were constantly on the run when in the field, and in Bamberg it wasn't much different. Anytime anyone needed a jeep and driver, I got the mission. Scouts Out, Rolling Thunder, Spring Rain, Horse Arty Shoots, Subaltern Shoots, Capstone Recon, Pay Duty in the field, deliver chow when in the field, Hawk Site, transport of prisoner to Mannheim, Troop and Squadron Duty Driver, you name it, I drove a jeep to and from it. But at the same time, I learned to AG for mortar crews, drop rounds with the mortar crews, prep rounds, hump rounds with tankers, load, gun and drive the M60A3. It was all Good! E-3 M-901 ITV Track Commander E-33. E-4 3rd Platoon (Blue)Platoon Leader LT. Schienke's delta element and sole crewmember E-36.

    What was your rank/title?

    E-1/E-4

What years were you assigned to the 2nd Cavalry?

    1982-1984

Tell us a little about your cav days.

My time assigned to the Regiment were undoubtedly the best days of my life as a professional soldier. Everyday was a "real world" mission, especially on the Trace. Reaction Force was nothing but a pure rush! Patrols along the Grenze were something I will never forget for the rest of my life. I am proud and honored to be able to say I served with the toughest, most professional, most dedicated SOB's in the entire ETO: The 2d Armored Cavalry Regiment. I will never forget the troopers I served with, nor the tight friendships we forged, or the things we did, both in the field, and of course in Bamberg and all the other places we paused briefly to drink a bier....or ten. ;o) Toujours Pret!

Tell us a little about you now.

Living on the southern coast of Maine.

Name a few buddies you served with that you would like to find.

    Hell..Everyone who served with E Troop 2/2 ACR from 82 to 84!
