I knew a JT that was the TC for L14. I was the Gunner just before the new Rise 60s. They lowboyed on Post sitting in front of the Barracks the day I walked of post for the last time.
I take it that was you

You old son of a bitch. I have been looking for you for years. I have never forgotten you. God I remember our days driving around bavaria with wine bottles between our legs. I used your birthday 5-5-55 to look for you. I thought you went to ft. carson with dave ayers when I went to Polk. That place truly sucked. Got out after that hitch and went into Marines. 6 years as a recon marine. But I will never forget L-15 Damn we were good.

You ever hear from old crew? How about Carl Elliott? He still hearin names on the german radio from the ohio river

Forgot to mention, the last two photos are from a visit to the site last July on the 37th anniversary of the explosion.

      John,

Since you seem to be so fond of the Sheridan, I thought you might appreciate some photos I have. One of our C Troop Sheridans caught fire and exploded July 25, 1974 while you were with L Troop. It happened just east of Amberg, a little town called Inzendorf, during a big war game the Regiment was part of at the time.

Wasn't much left of the Sheridan. The black and whites are the official photos from the investigation.

Tell us a little about your cav days.

Got to 3/2 in 1974 as a SP4, ran border patrols, reaction force and border ops out of Camp Roetz (Reed) and Camp May during two tours in L Troop. In 1999, the 70th Colonel of the Regiment hired me as the Regimental CSM. My last day of duty in the Regiment was 15 Dec 2000.

Tell us a little about you now.

I've retired for the second time and I'm still working full time as a consultant on data analysis projects. However, now my office is in my basement, and by dress code is much more casual.
