Laney, yes, there was a guy named Paul Rich at the Rock from 55-58 3rd CAV. He was from Wooster ,Ohio several other guys from Wooster were there also.  Never heard from any of them after
I got out.I do think Paul had some race horses at some time or other.

Hi Darrell, this is Heidi. Oh boy, we have been looking almost every day to see if you noticed Reggies message. I happen to find this site and showed it to Reggie and encouraged him to write. I even found a recent photo from you on the internet. Ha, Ha, no secrets anymore in this new world. I'll let Reggie know as soon as he comes home. I have been trying to find James Langmesser but no success. By the way I am flying to Germany tomorrow 4-15-10. Maybe we can contact each other. e-mail me (rsage19@yahoo.com). and I'll give you our phone number. Greetings from Hinesville, Ga. Heidi

      Toujours Pret Laney,
Welcome to the new DragoonBase, the new Base has plenty of newer features, lots of sub-groups,(ie,F-Trp,Amberg,Medics,etc.) and links for 2nd Cav News and History.
Robb Russell has posted some tips for navigating the site (ie,photos, links, ect) in the Forum.
Make sure you stop by and read the latest Tacoma Dave ‘Triva Quiz’, learn some 2nd Cav history and you can even win a kool prize.
If you need any help, you can contact Robb, or any of the 5 admins listed at the top of the page, or just yell out, another member may be able to help you.
And our only wish, ‘Keep it clean’, use our Real names/with Pictures(pix from back in the day, work best for searching for Brothers, but any picture will do).
And that you please tell all your friends about the new DragoonBase.

Thanks again for joining Dragoon Base, and for your service to our great country,
      Jesse Kelley

      Laney,
Wouldn't be surprised if you were still using the same TTY we had at Camp Gates in '63. My recollection is that we had only one voice land line, known affectionally as "Hitler's Revenge" because it was so unreliable.

Hello Laney, you might like some of my border photos, some from the area you worked.

    Birthday:

    May 1

What unit(s) did you serve in with the 2d Cavalry?

HHT, 1st Squadron, then A Trp, split 50-50 between Camp Gates and the Rock.

    Where were you stationed?

I spent my first 18 months at Camp Gates, then the second 18 months at the Rock, Christensen Barracks

What MOS or job description did you have?

Teletype Operator, 05C, while at Camp Gates, then Troop Commo Chief, 31V, while in A Trp.

    What was your rank/title?

SGT first 18 months, then promoted to SSG in May 78.

What years were you assigned to the 2nd Cavalry?

    December 1976 to December 1979

Tell us a little about your cav days.

I arrived at the Rock in Dec 76, in processed, and was assigned to Camp Gates shortly before Christmas, to run the small comm center (TCC) at the camp. I stayed there until May 78, when I was promotied to SSG, and was reassigned to A Troop as the Commo Chief. Went on 3 gunneries, 2 ARTEPs, REFORGER 79, and several maneuver rights exercises.

Tell us a little about you now.

Got kicked out of the Army after 30 years, for 'failure to adapt to Military life!' I am now a civilian hack working for the Army.

Name a few buddies you served with that you would like to find.

Joe Neilson, cook at Gates Duane Cox, medic at Gates Ben Johnson, B Trp and Camp Custodian Reginald G Sage, Sqn Comm Chief James E. Langmesser, Sqn Signal Officer Sam Campos
