      Tim,

I gotta know you . I am sure you laid an omelet on my plate. With grits! All the strange food we learned to like. Course it helps to be hungry. I have 4 kids- ages twins 9(boy &girl) Girl 11, Girl 13 and we are basketball freaks . I coach two teams and 3 of the kids play. At the ripe old age of 52 I am busier then ever. Toujors Pret!

      Hello Tim,

Ah, Camp Gates....loved the food and the freedom there.  Away from HQ and very little interaction with the "brass" when they rotated through.  Ran the PX and avoided the scam that the German's tried with the PX operators.

You might want to take a look at the Oldtimer's group.  You may find someone there you knew.  Don't let the name scare you, we take oldtimers of all ages.  It's just that we get a bit cynical with things.

      Harry

Not a problem. You should see the Rock now. It's pretty spooky visiting that place after all these years. Not many of the original buildings left, but there are a few. In 2008 I found the neighborhood we lived in when my dad was in the 2d Cav 1953-55.

Just look on the front page of the site, down near the bottom where all the videos are. Click on "view all" at the bottom right corner of the video section.

Yeah, John Walker has a bunch of videos of Camp Gates a couple years ago.
    • Allen Fisher January 7, 2011 12:49
I was there from 86 to 88, in Bravo Troop. I was a Mortar Maggot. I think someone on the site has film of the border post after it was closed. Weird to see paint falling off the walls, etc..

      News and History Centers.

      latest “Tacoma Dave's ‘Triva Quiz’”,

and you could even, win a kool prize.

If you need any help, you may contact
Robb Russell, or any of the 5 admins listed

Tell us a little about your cav days.

Lots of fun. Cold and snow and beer :) A great time of my life, although I didn't fully realize it at the time. Great scenery and people. I went to the Education Center on The Rock right when I arrived and took the tests for my GED/HS Diploma. I dropped out of High School and joined the Army. I swore into the Army on March 30, 1981 my 17th birthday ( The day Ronald Reagan got shot by John Hinckley Jr. ) I passed my tests and got my HS Diploma from Bindlach The Rock. How many people can say that :) Fraulines and beer, what more could you want at 17 years old.

Tell us a little about you now.

I'm happily married with a 5 year old son. I'm registered on Facebook if anyone cares to contact me. My email is tim7050@yahoo.com.

Name a few buddies you served with that you would like to find.

Scott Paradis, William Bone everyone from 81-83.
