      Hello Mr. Costine,
Thank you for the time spent looking at my photos.. I  have many more and will post others soon.

As for Dad he passed away almost 20 years ago.. he was only 54.

He like you was in  HQ . I  will have to check with my older brother for the company he was assigned.
I need to  add more info to his\my profile.

I have some other info  you might find of interest….
I think I read a post from you about the man who  collected laundry from the base. His business was
across the street from the base entry gate. Sadly he too has passed away and his son’s aquired the property.

That was in turn bought by my stepfather and it is where I live now and where the photos were taken.

The large hall is still intact ,where the laundry was processed, and a living quarters is located in the rear, next to the cliff.

I checked the name with Horst (my stepfather) and it was indeed the same man.

Thanks again for your message and “Take Care”

      Andrei

Tom, Interesting! A branch of the family from Mass. All that I know about the Rich name is from immigrants who came down through the northeast and wound up in the southeast states. I am from Alabama myself.

I did know one Rich in Korea from New York, but that's about it.

      Hello Tom,

No, my father was never in Germany, but I did have a brother in the 4th Armd Div at Ferris Bks, Erlangen from 58 to 60. Did you know someone at the Rock with the last name Rich?

Thanks Tom for correcting me about the Taxi stand across the street.  I've been calling it Pete's and you are correct it was Fritz's.
    • PHILIP SHERIDAN GREAVES December 21, 2010 22:48
Hello Tom.  My Grandfather who I never knew was born in 1896 and died in 1922, his name was Philip Henry Sheridan, the same as the Generals.  I have been told all of my life that we are related to the General.  Gen. P.H. Sheridan's parents and my Great Grandparents all came from the same section of Ireland.  I believe it is County Mayo.  Thanks for your interest.
