  Loren- oh yes I remember the Trocedaro! Good music, the german girls and beer. Also would visit the Oasis and Cafe Ring.

  During ’67 I troop was in the border station. The communication section got a call from headquarters that 3 Russian armor divisions were headed for the border. We went to the first alert: lined all the vehicles, loaded duffle bags and waited. The second alert came: Checked ammo and radio and mounted our vehicles and waited for the third alert. Headquarters notified us that if the third alert came, that meant to go to the assigned locations and we were to stop the Russians for at least 15 minutes with a casualty rate or 99 percent. NATO needed the 15 minutes to get the air support and missiles to stop the Russians. We waited in our vehicles for about one hour and some guy asked the first sergeant if we could get some beer from the day room. He told us to assigned one person to go and get the beer. Nobody spoke; there was silence all over the place. Some guys began writing letters and some just drank beer. After the third/four trip to the day room, the alert was cleared and we got drunk.

  Loren,got to Amberg in Sept.of 69 left March 71.In HHT with Redeye made SGT. befor I left.Was Col. Reid the squadron XO ?And Major Blake his partner?We always had a training NCO in the basement near our Redeye room,I don't remember his name.Remember any places downtown?

  Take a walk over to the Oldtimers group. We'd love to have you on board. You may find our sense of humor sometimes gets the best of us, judging by the previous comment from Dave Gettman (Tacoma Dave). We're just a bunch of vets trying to keep trying.

  Welcome to the new DragoonBase, the new Base has plenty of newer features, lots of sub-groups,(ie, Officers Club, F-Trp., Amberg, Medics, etc.) and links for 2nd Cav News and History.
  Robb Russell has posted some tips for navigating the site (ie,photos,links,ect) in the Forum.
  Make sure you stop by and read the latest Tacoma Dave ‘Triva Quiz’, learn some 2nd Cav history, and you can even win a kool prize.
  If you need any help, you can contact Robb, or any of the 5 admins listed at the top of the page, or just yell out, another member may be able to help you.
  And our only wish, ‘Keep it clean’, use our Real names/with Pictures (pix from back in the day, work best for searching for Brothers, but any picture will do).
