Rick , I'm sorry to hear about Jody. He was always the "ROCK" of the ROC.When you do see him give him my best and you can pass along my email address to him and Dave. crboblane@gmail.com I will get back to him ASAP. I'll drop Barb a note a little later tonight. We had some good times back then at the ROC. Well I've gotta go check the perimeter (some things never change). Catch ya later , Slim

Rick, you were close, they called me "Slim". That nickname does not fit anymore. I had a stroke about 6 years ago and my weight ballooned from 155 to 240. I finally got down to 190 last month, and my goal is 170 by Christmas. Up until the stroke I had spent the last18 years setting up tradeshow and convention exhibits. Now I"m head of security and assistant manager for a motel and youth hostel here in Las Vegas. Working with the kids keeps me young and keeping the barbarians ( Pimps, HO's and drug dealers) away from the gates, keeps me on my toes. It's almost time for shift change so I've got to go. Oh yeah, LT Anderson, now LTC (ret) is on the Dragoon Net. Catch you later, Bob (Slim) Lane

Rick, I spent over 22 years in the Army. I went to airborne school right after I left Germany and eventually earned my Master wings. I changed from Signal to AG after 8 yrs. I married another paratrooper in 1982. I had our son at the age of 43. He has 3 jumps since I didn't know I was expecting! I now live in Georgetown, Texas north of Austin. and go to school. Do you remember the other people who were there with us? Great to hear from you, Barb

Rick, were you in Border Ops in 1978-1980? I had to key the red phone all the time as the Comsec Custodian and went on border camps inspections to check signal stuff. Barb (BJ) Steere MacMillan

Rick: It's good to see I'm not the only ROC NCO still alive and kicking. I'm currently living in Las Vegas NV, where I'm Chief of Security and Night Manager for a youth hostel. I had a series of strokes several years ago and had to give up 18 years as a Teamster in the tradeshow industry. I enjoy my current line of work, I'm not getting rich but considering the economy I really can't complain. SSG C.R. (Bob) Lane.

      Toujours Pret Rick,
Welcome to the new DragoonBase, the new Base has plenty of newer features, lots of sub-groups,(ie,F-Trp,Amberg,Medics,etc.) and links for 2nd Cav News and History.
Robb Russell has posted some tips for navigating the site (ie,photos, links, ect) in the Forum.
Make sure you stop by and read the latest Tacoma Dave ‘Triva Quiz’, learn some 2nd Cav history and you can even win a kool prize.
If you need any help, you can contact Robb, or any of the 5 admins listed at the top of the page, or just yell out, another member may be able to help you.
And our only wish, ‘Keep it clean’, use our Real names/with Pictures(pix from back in the day, work best for searching for Brothers, but any picture will do).
And that you please tell all your friends about the new DragoonBase.

Thanks again for joining Dragoon Base, and for your service to our great country,
      Jesse Kelley

GREAT - Merrell Barracks was the place to be. Border duty was with the 2/2 usually and I always seemed to end up at Camp Harris Coburg. See above. Also Cpt. Packer, Cpt. Parrish who were HHT CO's Msg Majestic, Msg McAvenue, Richie Pomerance, SFC Jody Booker
