Bob, yes I remember you. Sounds like you found a good place to make a difference. I am in Georgetown, TX now just north of Austin. I have a 13 year old son who has 3 parachute jumps because I did not know I was pregnant. The 2ACR was by far my best assignment. I do a lot of volunteer work and go to grad school. Sorry about your wife. Have you heard from any of the guys you listed as wanting to find? They are all great people. It is great to hear from you. Barb

Hey Slim, i noticed that you were also looking for Booker. I have been in contact with his wife, Maria. They are in Bradenton, Florida, but he is living in either a nursing home or an assisted living facility. Jody is wheelchair bound and is on dialysis about four times a week. Maria says that he would like to hear from some of us. This has all been happening so fast. First I find Booker then Dave Stanley contacts me, then BJ Steere, and you. wOw!! Booker tried to call me last week and i missed his call. He left a message on my voice mail.

Bob, did we used to call you Slick? It is good to see that you survived too. Sorry that it took so long to reply back but life is good. Border ops was even better. Hope to hear from you soon. Rick

Being alive is good - I still have some pictures around here somewhere of you as the border ops meister. Those were the days. ;)

Tell us a little about your cav days.

I spent most of 79 in 3rd Plt, Trp G in the scout section, then 90 days at Sqdn Border Ops. When G Trp deployed to Camp Hof I went back to the troop and ran the camp Ops Ctr. We maxed the Regimental Border Inspection and upon returning to Bamberg, the Regimental Border NCO, SFC Dave Stanley had me reassigned to RBO/ROC.. I was there almost 2years,serving under "Dueller 6" COL Bob Wagner, S2 Ltc Sullivan, S5,s Majors Branstetter and Farris, and Border Officers LT,s Anderson and Thornton. We had a good team in the ROC, SFC Jody Booker, SSG Gary Buker, SSG Charley Vance, SSG Gonzales , SSG Norris Towery and SGT Bruce Birdwell. Being the only single one I lived in the barracks hanging out with the guys from Regimental Commo section, SFC Sterling Cale, SP5 Paul Bryant and SGT Bobby Ribero. We spent a lot of time at Nickys Alt Athen Gasthaus and the Club Nashville. I guess I did a good job, I left the Cav with a Meritorius Service Medal and orders to Drill SGT school at Fort Knox.

Tell us a little about you now.

I currently live in Las Vegas NV. I spent the first 18 years here in the Teamster Union, working in the convention industry as an exhibit installer. I set shows all over the US and even Munich FRG. I really enjoyed it, then 5 Years ago I suffered a series of strokes and had to take a leave of absence. I'm currently Chief of Security at a youth hostel and hotel desk clerk. I'm not getting rich but I do enjoy the work, lots of long legged ladies at the pool to look at, and once in a while I get to bust a crack dealer or pimp who is dumb enough to come on the property. I'm a widower, but I 'm not the hell raiser I used to be. I guess we all have to grow up sometime.

    Phone number (Optional).

Name a few buddies you served with that you would like to find.

Dave Stanley, Jody Booker, Sterling Cale, Bobby Ribiero, Kim Staker Barbara Steere.
