Bob, I sent a message you and somehow it ended up being sent to myself, check the Main. Top
Robet - rermember you fomback in the good ole days. I arrived in Bayreuth in the spring of 74 and streched out that assignment until the Sprig of 83. Returned then to CONUS for 15 months and then back to Bayreuth until Dec 96 whenI returned to Minnesota. I went back every ear ortwo until 09 when my my llungs gave out on me and put a halt to my flying and overseas travel.
Also noted you remember "Top" Miller. Great guy! Still lives near Bayreuth.
When my dad was in the 2d Cav, 1953-55, we lived in Bayreuth right across the street from the officer's club on Parsifalstrasse, just across the park from the Wagner Opera Haus. Spent my first two birthdays there. Dad was the 1st Battalion (battalions instead of squadrons then) motors officer.
My brother shot out all the windows in the motor pool at sub-post in Bayreuth with his slingshot when he was six years old. Good times!
Yeah, we actually got in a little trouble over that photo. The tank sits next to the main gate at Rose Barracks in Vilseck. Security guy (German) got pissed because we were taking photos near the front gate and almost took our cameras.
Welcome to the Base Robert. I was up at C Troop when you were down in Bayeuth. This is a great site with lots to catch up on. Friends are waiting to re-connect. Have fun!
Welcome to Dragoon Base, Robert. I left the Rock when you got there. I left in February '75...was in C Troop.
Visited the Rock in 2008 and 2011. Not many of the original buildings left. We were the first barracks inside the gate when I was there, but heard How Battery got new barracks next to ours later after I left.
Toujours Pret Robert
