  No, it sure doesn't Richard. I can e-mail you a file with all the member information for Dragoon Base, but then you have to go through it manually to find what you want. It will take me a few days to get the file. Give me a holler if you want it.

  In 84 I ran into CSM Curran while I was stationed with 2/64 Armor in Schweinfurt.  He was working with a defense contractor as a quality control tech for our battalion there.  He was a good mentor to me.  I traveled from Schweinfurt to Bayreuth that same year to visit Arno Geherdt and he was retired at the time and still living down near Sub-Post near the Howitzer Battery.  Also ran into Colonel Tommy Franks at an international range conference Williamsburg, Va  I worked for CPT Carney in S! for about a year and well as Lt. Dauster (sp) in the S5.  CPT Williams was the S2 at the time.  Wish I could recall some of the other folks from back then.

  Hi Richard. 

  Great to hear from you. Oh yes, we DID have some fun in those days!!!  The only downside I can remember was having the MPs, literally, one doorway away from our HOW Battery barracks; on the other hand it was kind of nice sometimes on a Friday or Saturday night after all the boys returned from down town. :)

  You might also remember that you guys found a beautiful dog (Bruno) (Shepherd/Collie mix) for us to adopt after one of the families couldn't take him back to CONUS. You and your MP desk buddies teased Bruno so much the day I picked him up that he peed all over the Desk Sergeant's desk - - ah, payback is wonderful.  Anyways, we changed his name to Jake (after my college best friend) and he was with us until 1984. Great dog and we're still grateful that you guys found him for us.

  Hahaha I don't think I ever paid for that one.Most soldiers today would have no clue on what a P-38 is.

  I think my only contact with the MP's was not a pleasant one. One of my troopers supposedly got into an altercation with a very inebriated German who was trying to start a fight. It was during winter and the sidewalks were icey. I was getting the soldier out of the bar and the German followed us outside and somehow fell down on the sidewalk whacking his head pretty badly. The Polizei picked us both up, me as a witness, and the soldier for alleged assault. The Polizei treated me kindly and their investigation showed that the German was the aggressor. I got released to the MP's and was treated as though I had committed a crime.

  I do remember soldiers getting busted for "black marketing". They sold some nasty whiskey called "Hallers" (Sp?) in the Class VI. Soldiers would buy a case of it and resell it at "Mama Yeti's", some dive bar just outside the gate for 2-3 times what they paid for it. I seem to recall one Sergeant getting busted at the front gate with a car trunk full of it.

  Most of my time in the Cav we were at Graf, Border or FTXs for about 9 months out of the year.

  We arrived at Bindlach (or Suploc) the same month.  I remember you from infrequent contacts and am glad to have a chance to renew the acquaintance.  We got to see some interesting stuff back then, no?
