The DragoonBase here at Ning.com, has
plenty of updated features

What unit(s) did you serve in with the 2d Cavalry?

Howitzer Battery, 3/2 ACR

Where were you stationed?

, West Germany, Amberg, Pond Barracks mostly. also, Camp May, Camp Rotz, Grafenwohr,

What MOS or job description did you have?

13BM5, Gun Bunny on M109A1 155mm Howitzer. I could do FDC (13E10) also. Did the special weapons training at Ft Sill but never really had to do it.

What was your rank/title?

SPC/E-4

What years were you assigned to the 2nd Cavalry?

1976-1979, during the Carter administration.

Tell us a little about your cav days.

Mostly good memories. We went to the field a lot. And numerous border tours. I really liked the Bavarian girls and the beer. I was seventeen when I got there and twenty when I left. It wasn't the hooah army like it is now. The word hooah had not been invented yet. Vietnam had only ended a few years earlier. We still had a few left over draftees who had re-upped. Very few troops had the high and tight haircuts like now. No spurs or stetson hats. We wore these black berets until 1979 or so. They gave me a good conduct medal which I really did not deserve. I remember there was this troop in HHT that went to prison for murdering a cab driver during a robbery. I PCSed to Ft Bragg in March of 1979. ETSed active duty 12/15/1979.

Tell us a little about you now.

Captain, Physician Assistant (65D). Texas Army National Guard, retired. Served in Helmand Province, Afghanistan Campaign 2005-2006. As well as Basra, Iraq 2010-2011. Earned Combat Medical Badge in Afghanistan.

Name a few buddies you served with that you would like to find.

can't remember very many names. most of my buddies didn't like the Cav very much and it is unlikely that they were inclined to maintain links with 2nd ACR.
