I was there in 78-79 the redeye equipment room was upstairs then in a large room. Yes the Golden Lion was a gausthaus, enjoyed many a yager snittzel there with Stan Bullard and Tony Fowler and Lonnie Veasey. Like I said Great friends good time and the beir.

When I was at Pond Barracks 69-71.Our Redeye Equipment room was in the basement across from the Arms room. The only time we went to the border was for Alerts. The last time my wife and I were back to Amberg was 2002.If the Golden Lion was a gausthaus it is still there. We used to eat at Roma,Sandros a pizza place downtown and the Ring, one street from the Baunhof. And the Weinstub. We used to go to some forest (don't remember the name.) and track jets with the redeye trainers. The planes were German and French. They used to sneek up on us and scare the shit out of us with the after-burners.

      Toujours Pret Thomas,
Welcome to the new DragoonBase, the new Base has plenty of newer features, lots of sub-groups,(ie, Officers Club, F-Trp., Amberg, Medics, etc.) and links for 2nd Cav News and History.
Robb Russell has posted some tips for navigating the site (ie,photos, links, ect) in the Forum.
Make sure you stop by and read the latest Tacoma Dave ‘Triva Quiz’, learn some 2nd Cav history and you can even win a kool prize.
If you need any help, you can contact Robb, or any of the 5 admins listed at the top of the page, or just yell out, another member may be able to help you.
And our only wish, ‘Keep it clean’, use our Real names/with Pictures (pix from back in the day, work best for searching for Brothers, but any picture will do).
And that you please tell all your friends about the new DragoonBase.

Thanks again for joining Dragoon Base, and for your service to our great country,
      Jesse Kelley
