Tim, this is my first time logging in here for several years. To answer your question, I have no memory of who the crew was. I was pretty new to the unit and as we were heading into what we thought was going to be a hot war, no one really wanted to get too close to me as a FNG to the unit and I honestly, did make too much effort to get close to them either.
I remember the morning of the crash. Everyone was instantly awake and I heard every M16 bolt go forward at the same time. By the time we got the real word on what happened it was getting pretty light so they sent us out to the foxholes to wait it out.
I was in a foxhole with Eric Linzmeyer and we were listening to the sounds of cooking ammo flying somewhere overhead.
As far as the burned private, I have no idea. I don't even remember hearing about it.
Good luck!
Tim,
Monzell Ford, Mike Tinnin, Scott Coppinger, and Tim Green are on Facebook.
Tim sorry I wouldn't even know how to find these guys. After the went back to the states that was it. Sorry couldn't help Wayde
I was in that area quite often, my dad had a friend that lived on the other corner beside Fat Jacks. My wife lived across the street beside Schoonover Park when she was a kid. Small world!
I lived on W Vine, near the refinery. The flares were my nightlights!
Yep, I was the PT officer for Savage troop. CPT Jay Smith allowed me to attend the Master Fitness Trainer Course and I used the troop as my test subjects. :-)
That was SSG Sam David taken in 1989. The pilot was CW2 John Sensing.
