The only other guy from my stay in I troop is Juan Gallegos. He lives in Dallas. I give him a call once in a while to see how he is doing.

      Bill -

Great hearing from you! Your comments and that fine set of photos from I Troop sure brought back a lot of memories of those days in Amberg, on the Border, and at Graf. Good shots of I-17, too; looking sharp as allways!

Bill DeRossett asked about our !SG - it was Holloway; Matteo Arredondo was the PSG for 3rd Platoon. I'll have to put on the thinking cap for the PSG for 1st and 2nd platoons. Speaking of names, remember "Max", the fat dog mascot at Weiden?

Got back to Amberg a couple of times. In 1972 was XO of 1-63rd Armor (Ft. Riley) on a REFORGER exercise, policing up broken down tracks on the new autobahn link between Nurnberg & Amberg. Afterwards, stopped by the Snack Bar to thaw out; Later, stopped by the kaserne in daylight to look around. Looked pretty much the same, but there were a lot of new apartment buildings nearby. In 1988, was in Germany doing a training ammo study and was able to get back to the kaserne and Camp Pittman for a quick look.

Sounds like you had quite a career - Active and with FORSCOM. Any more Armor duty after the 2nd Cav?

      All the best to you,
      Nelson Voke

Hi, you've got a great collection of photos from your time in I Troop. After 6 months in M Troop, I was transferred to I Troop. Capt Voke was the CO for my first 3 months, then he was replaced by Lt Wagner. Don't remember which platoon I had, but the names Ponzerrella and Dombrowski ring a bell. Who was the First Sergeant of I Troop? In one of the Troops I was in the First Sergeant as a big black man with a thundering voice and a great sense of humor; can't remember his name. In Feb 64 they moved me to L Troop to fill the XO slot. Those were great times. Toujours Pret.

I talked to Rob Gould about a year ago , he is on the old MSN Dragoon base , he was in the first platoon I think . He was the only one I found before this site . A couple years ago I was talking to a guy I was in Vietnam with in 65/66 and he said he was 1st Sgt. of I-Troop in 69 or around that time .

Hello Bill, sorry I had gotten back to you sooner in Atlanta, did you finally retire? I have been bouncing around the hospital. Still kicking and trying to hang on a few more years. You have a few photos in your collection I would like to make a copy of.

I remember you too once I seen your picture , I went to 1/9 th Cav in Oct. 65 , so some of the stuff before Vietnam is hard to remember without a little jarring . Yes , I bunked in the big scouts room on the third floor . Do you remember Pitts or Scurlock ?
