Come join us over in the Oldtimers. There are several from your time.
William R.Bowen from Manchester,Ga.The last I heard from him,he was living in Houston,Tx.
How long were you in Amberg after all the US'S (Draft)left.I caught two more years in the active reseerves after I got out.Went to a tank company of Baltimore Police Officers with drills every monday and one week-end each month.Had to leave that bunch and went to the Maryland National Guard and Pres.Ike gave me another year.Had to serve three active duty years.Alot of mondays, week ends and summer camps.
Hi Gerald, I was at Ft. Meade and Gyroed over in Feb. 58, was stationed in Bamberg and had a friend Joe Dixon in Amberg, did you possibly know Joe?
You certainly among the older Oldtimers here. Why not join us over in the Oldtimers? Surprisingly, there are more from your time in Germany. You beat me by a couple years. I got there in '62, left '64. Lotta good folks over here. Look forward to seeing you.

I was just checkin' the track tension, honest. I was a tanker, too.
Yeah, from what I've been told I gather that statue was actually part of one of the buildings? Chipped the swastika out of the wreath after the war.
After the 2d Cav left in 1991 Pond Barracks became an asylum of all things for two years. Now it is some kind of housing project.
Do you remember this statue? It was part of Pond Barracks from when the Nazis had it. One of the few things left.

Welcome to Dragoon Base, Gerald. You're a prime candidate for our Old Timer's group. Not many guys here from the Gyroscope era, but there are a few if you look hard.
My dad was in 1st Battalion up in Bindlach 1953-55. I was there 1974-75. Got to tour Amberg last July with a friend who was stationed there at Pond Barracks. Not much left but the mess hall and a couple of the barracks.
