Tell us a little about your cav days.
After a harrowing train ride from FRF and getting lost in the Nurnberg bahnhof I arrived at the Regimental HQs at merril barracks at 0300 hrs and had to be present for a briefing from the RCO at 0600. I eventually was asssigned to K troop, third squadron and arrived there a couple of days later. Naturally, they were in Graf for gunnery in the middle of winter, what could be more fun than gunnery in a good Bavarian winter?
Tell us a little about you now.
I retired from 2nd ACR in October 1988 and remained in Germany until 2000. I am now fully retired and living in Augusta, GA.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JIMMIE
Wishing you many more, from all of us at DragoonBase!!!
Ernie Roth, myself and another trooper were selected to do a "dog and pony" foot patrol on the border for an Army Times write up. The snow was so deep, we had to wear snowshoes and still sank every few steps. Roth kept us motivate all the way up the mountain though.
No. I am not fully retired yet but I went to half time...about 20 hours of patient care a week. I think that keeping busy is the best of both worlds. Those few half days off during the week makes it feel like I'm on vacation everyday. Plus the income doesn't hurt! Hope you find that happy medium.
Stay well.
