Hi Herlinde. I noticed it has been a while since you posted here. I hape you are well. I hear from Siegbert sometimes. He runs into the Frau Heubner  (sp?) from Erlinstrasse in Bindlach where I lived for a while. My Mothers side are the Richters that live in the Leups area which must be why I felt so at home while I was there. I didn't know that the Bayreuth was my ancestral home until several years later. A cousin wrote a book about my Great Great Grand Uncle and Grandfathers journey to S.W. Georgia and were pioneers here. Ya' just never know! Anyway, I hope you are well.

      Linda,

Hope you don't mind, but I borrowed some of your recipes to share with the members here in our "Troop Mess Hall - Share a Recipe" group.

Yes, Herlinde - that was my 'Nom De Guerre' infortuneately, I love the six years I spent at Bindlach, 1970-74 and 88-90. It was a wonderful place to serve at a great time in history, Bob

Do you have an email address for the Dickman's and/or the Cablays. I haven't heard from either of them since I left the Rock and just read your "travelog" on visiting Bindlach and the fun places in the area. Betty and I spent 10 days in Germany in 2004; maybe we will go back next year. Sounds like you both had a great time!

Thanks for the message. I did not think Fritz would be around yet . He looked pretty tough when I lived there in the early 80s. Glad to here Frau Schiller is still getting around, she is an angel of a woman. All the GIs she mothered! I had the room overlooking there garden and I remember looking out at the field and seeing her following Fritz on the tractor picking up field stone every spring. She worked her butt off! Yea the Schnitzels were to die for there. I hope I can make it back someday. Again thanks for the message.

Sure I remember Chief. I am a Russian Orthodox priest...though in America we try not to use Russian as we are no longer under the Russian Patriarch. Give my best to Chief.
