Tell us a little about your cav days.
We traded off working the border with A and B Troops. We had 2 border stations - Kronach & Hof. Hof was actually a Air Force radar unit. They operated A big ground to air unit at Dobraberg.
We had a border station located on that base. It was great the mess hall had regular plates and cup/ saucers. Almost like home.
From Hof we patroled from Nordhalben south to near Rhau.
In Kronach we had a 3 story house converted into a border station.
When our troop moved to the border 2 line platoons went to Hof and 1 went to Kronach.
Once a year we moved to Graf - Dust or mud.
In Graf I saw the 280mm Cannon fired - awesome. I was about 50 feet from the fireing of an Honest John Rocket.
The stories go on and on.
My 3 years on the Rock and the Border was great. I was seventeen when I arrived there. I guess you mi8ght say I grew up there.
Tell us a little about you now.
I'm a A General Contractor. At 65 it's about time to stop that.

Hello Jimmie,
Not too many of us from that time period. Would like to invite you to join us at the Oldtimers group. There are actually quite a few of us. You may find an old friend or make some new ones. We don't take a whole lot serious but when the right button hits, you never know what will come out.
