You asked about Capt. Mick Mason.  Good Man!  I was a 1LT as S-4 in 1970 with a few weeks to ETS.  Mick walked into my office and said, "Lt you are sitting in my chair."  I got up, saluted and he made me the support platoon leader until my ETS.  I think he went on to be I Troop CO.  Mick was a pilot and at that time they had to do tours on the ground.  I think he earned a direct commission in RVN.  He was a quiet honest man and kept to himself.

I ran into him again around 1992 or so.  He was a Director at AAI corporation in Florida running a division.  I was starting my Executive Search business and he gave me work that really helped me get started.  We worked well together and he introduced me to other Exec's at AAI.  AAI became a client of mine for the next 20 years.

I owe a lot to Mick.  I lost touch with him but last knew him to be in "The Villages" in Florida.

sorry John About not being on here I had to have a kidney removed due to cancer and then I had to go back into hospital because my organs were starting to shut down on me.  I had to go on Dialisis for about six Months but I recovered from that.  I am not on Dialisis any more.  I now have renal cancer that has mastated to both of my lungs am doing fine even with that. I hope this finds you well and enjoying life.

What unit(s) did you serve in with the 2d Cavalry?

Troop I, 3/2 ACR - the Officers Club, as MOM'S escort to the motorpool, asst. bartender, cook, waiter, manager? This was prob. the best job on campus, but I asked to return to Trp I due to an assignment of a particular officer as the O club capo de capo capi that I figgered would land me in trubble.

    Where were you stationed?

Amberg, Germany - the border, Grafenwhoer, Honenfels, e.t.c.

What MOS or job description did you have?

63b20 mechanic worked in the "O" club about a year, spent the rest shaggin parts in the motorpool, hiding from 1sg, drivin a m113 to the border or the bahnhof. got cold in the winter in graf. / hohenfels

    What was your rank/title?

    pv1, pv2, pfc, sp4 e-4- best rank inda army.

What years were you assigned to the 2nd Cavalry?

    1969 to 1972

Tell us a little about your cav days.

Things were pretty crazy, we spent our time going to the border, going to graf or hohenfels for training. off duty we went to rock concerts - smoked our brains out and drank the cheapo wine that was suprisingly good

Tell us a little about you now.

worked for State of NM Gov. as a Veterans Employment Representative, had many varied assignments, was both challenged and rewarded. The best one thing? I had the ability to be of some help to a veteran every day. After College, I felt that I owed my Veteran Status something in return. That is what I found, and did. Now fatly retired and seeking entertainment?

Do you have a web site?

    https://nope

    Phone number (Optional).
