Hello Michael,

I was stationed in Amberg from Jan 1975 to Aug 1977. K troop Sgt Bristols sheriden tank. I remember I couldn't wait to get back to the states. Now I would love to go back lol.

Cpt. Marcy...retired Col. Marcy and is living in Anchorage, Alaska now. We've exchanged e-mail several times, hoping to have a cup of coffee with him at the end of 2013, or beginning of 2014 next time I'm up North. He is a consultant of some kind now, between the Military and Civilian interests in Alaska. He was an awesome Commander....

So you were at Plano TX thats about 300 miles from Rosenberg,,,5 hours drive time.

Capt Marcy,,remember him very well..have you spoken with anyone from ground radar 75 to 78???

Hey Mike, I was checking out the PNW page and realized there's a former K trp Mortarman living at the bottom the hill down in Sumner. Your tours didn't overlap- I think he got there in 79-80. I got there in Feb 78. I roomed w/ Mike Ioccabucci, Ransom Young, and Charlie Downs. I retired from Lewis & spent ~10-15 years up there bewteen Tacoma, Sumner, and Puyallup.

Michael. I remember Jim little i saw him a few years ago, Spoke with Danney Wright last year, I remember Singledecker, I haven't heard anything about him since the service. I remember when you boxed Capt. Marcy. Yes Amberg was some great times. I live just south of Portland, Canby OR. we need to have a few beers sometime. If you remember Mike Gibson him and my wife Diane and I are going to Germany in July to welcome the 2nd ACR back from Afghanistan. check out Amberg, border camps and raise a little hell.

K-Troop and HQ......with the 3/2 ACR in Amberg West Germany (1975-78)

Where were you stationed?

Ponds Barracks, Amberg West Germany.......prior to the unification of Germany, after the fall of the Iron Curtain.

What MOS or job description did you have?

17K20, Ground Surveillance Radar Operations....spent the last part of my tour in HQ as a "Clerk Typist"....but, I try to avoid telling my Son's.....that I was a secretary. :-} TDY'ed to the 7th ATC Wrestling & Boxing Teams during the last year and a half of my time in Germany....had a blast.

What was your rank/title?

E-3 on arrival, promoted to E-4 & E-5 while stationed in Amberg.....

What years were you assigned to the 2nd Cavalry?

1975 to 1978

Tell us a little about your cav days.

Only spent one extended tour on the German/Checkoslovakia border. I was TDY'ed to the 2nd Army Training Command on several occasions for the Boxing and Wrestling Teams while in Germany. Best friend Arnold Singledecker and best CO Cpt. Marcy.....I would welcome the opportunity to reconnect with either of those men if I have the chance.

College Educated, Married to an AWESOME woman, three Kids Anthony 27, Emily 25 and Shay 22. Anthony engaged to a great young lady he has known since childhood, Emily married Scott Lindbo and is making my Jilly and I....Grandparents, 1 March 2010 and Shay is a wild man and will be starting an armed revolution to over throw the government should we be foolish enough to re-elect the Socialist Elect "Mac-Daddy" Comrade Obama in 2012. I conduct a comprehensive range of civil and criminal investigations and send "Bad Guys" to prision whenever possible.
