Hi Gerald, yes I saw your comment on Jan Harpole's page and thought I remembered you from Camp King. I spoke to Jan briefly on Friday and it was good to hear his voice after 20+ years - we were both at Camp King in the late 80s. Amazing how quickly we advance thru time. After, leaving Camp King I did Advanced Course, I did my battalion staff and more CO time, reverted back to basic branch, 3 years USMC, Naval War college, advanced degree programs through DOD, with studies at U of London and Cambridge, as a way for us to reach into Yugoslavia prior to Wall coming down - fun program.Medically retired officially 98, as an 05. You mentioned Franklin Glunn - I loved that guy. He was instrumental in getting me into the M/CI job, and then into the Joint Service program. He was such a personable man. Gerald  I really appreciate your responding to my inquiry. If you have time I'd appreciate hearing from you. Steve Roman

      Hi Gerald David,
Just a note from the past, long ago past, I think we were both at Camp King in the early 70s - that is a long time ago. If you are that Gerry David I hope you and yours are well, propsperous, and happy. And, even if you aren't that Gerry David, my best wishes. Steve Roman

I was there between 63 and 65.  Was Regina still working in the snack bar when you were there.  She was my girl friend for a couple years.

      Gerald,

Did you receive the 2d Cav Assoc. reunion reservation by email giving the events of Nov 10-13?

      Bill

      Gerald,
Yes, that was SGT Sarro all right - he used to hound us newbies mercilessly - he was a pretty tough nut, all things considered. I ran into him about 7 years later when I was a 1LT - he vaguely remembered me. By that time, he was a SFC & working as a Drill Sergeant over in the 1st Armor Training Brigade at Ft. Knox. Looking back, it's amazing that so many senior positions were filled by rather junior personnel - SGTs doing SFC jobs and so on. But it worked - despite all the troubles & turmoil the Army experienced in those days, when we had to go to the field, everyone busted their butts to get the job done as best they could. Most of the problems we had back then were probably due to boredom & monotony, and not because they were bad soldiers. I was really proud of our platoon & our Track Commanders, even though I was just a PFC & loader.
      Toujours Pret,
      Doug Nash

I got there in April of 74 and was assigned as 3rd Plt Ldr for a few months. When Ford was moved to from 2nd Platoon to XO, I became the 2nd Plt. Ldr. SFC Skipper was my Plt. Sgt. in 3rd Platoon. I think SFC Lyons may have been the 1st Plt Sgt. and Andy Stilley was the 1st Plt. Ldr. when I first arrived in C Troop. Gene Boesch was the XO when I first got there. I exchanged some emails with Ford a few years back, but nothing recently.
