  • I loved this place and hated it, all at the same time! Its loosing its place on earth. Soon It may only live in our minds. Goodbye old friend, you will be missed. John thanks for the trip.

  • John,

Where have the years gone?  That small piece of dirt (Camp Gates) was my life for years.  I fought for money to build the Scrounge.  The Gym.  It was what I lived for as the "Border Officer".  The mission.  Wow.

    Now, it's just a ruin.

    Damn.

  • Wow that's really sad to see something go to waste.
  • Hey Fellows, thanks to all of you for the feedback. I have another several minuted of footage (Camp Gates, the town of Bindlach and The Rock) which I will try to compress and upload. I took the videos in too-high of a quality and they exceed the posting limit. I need to find a webpage that shows me how to do that!
    Cheer from Zürich,
    John

  • When I saw this video, I was heart broken to see how the chow-hall looked. I remember it just like it was yesterday
  • I remember the days before heading back to Bindlach when we would get someone going back early to stock the wall lockers with beer and booze. I rememeber Danny Cooper and I getting drunk on white russians!!
  • Awesome!! Thanks for bringing back great memories.
  • John,
Thankyou very much for the trip down memory lane! Kinda sad. In 4 years I spent alot of time at that Camp. It was a special place and we where always pumped going up I remember and ready to leave after a week. It should have been kept as memorial. Better money spent there than on WALL STREET.
    Thanks Again
    Joe
